CIMAM Open Call: Travel Grant applications for Curators / Museum Directors

CIMAM is offering around 12 grants generously supported by MALBA–Fundación Costantini, Alserkal Programming, V-A-C Foundation, Samdani Art Foundation and Byucksan Foundation.

Grants are restricted to modern and contemporary art museum or collection directors and curators in need of financial help to attend CIMAM’s Annual Conference taking place in Stockholm (2-4 November 2018).

The first CIMAM Annual Conference took place on July 5th 1962 in The Hague. Since then the Committee has celebrated 48 conferences that have been held in over 30 different cities around the globe. CIMAM’s Annual Conference has become an important meeting point for contemporary art professionals and an essential resource for the collaboration between museums, visual art professionals, artists and other institutions concerned with modern and contemporary art.

Eligibility:  Researchers and independent curators whose field of research and specialization is contemporary art theory, collections and museums and most of their field of professional activity is related to the functions of an art museum, are also eligible. Applicants should not be involved in any kind of commercial or for-profit activity.

→ Samdani Art Foundation supports 2 travel grants to modern and contemporary art museum and collection directors and curators residing in countries of the South Asia region (Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Nepal, India, Pakistan, Myanmar and Sri Lanka)

Grant Support for Other Nations

→ MALBA–Fundación Costantini supports 4 travel grants to modern and contemporary art museum and collection directors and curators born or residing with more than 4 years in Latin America

→ Alserkal Programming supports 2 travel grants to modern and contemporary art museum and collection curators and directors residing in the United Arab Emirates and the wider Middle East and North Africa region (Algeria, Bahrain, Djibouti, Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Syria and Tunisia).

→ V-A-C Foundation supports 2 travel grants to modern and contemporary art museum and collection directors and curators residing in Russia and the countries of the former Soviet Union (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Estonia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine and Uzbekistan).

→ Byucksan Foundation supports 1 travel grant to modern and contemporary art museum and collection directors and curators residing in the Northeast Asia region(Republic of Korea, China, Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau and Mongolia).
