Meera is a DPhil student in Anthropology at the University of Oxford, originally from Kerala, India. Her research explores the intersections of art, religion, and digital media in South Asia, with a particular focus on the ritual performance tradition of Theyyam. Drawing on her background in engineering and visual anthropology, Meera’s work examines how folk and mythological art forms are reinterpreted in digital spaces and shaped by emerging technologies such as AI. Her interests lie in questions of cultural authorship, visuality, and the transformation of devotional practices in contemporary India. Alongside her academic work, Meera is also involved in curatorial projects and archival research related to South Asian visual cultures.
